Throwing a derby party is something I had always wanted to do.
My friend Candice and I started planning a year ago for our daughters’ birthday party to be a joint derby party. She and I both love throwing parties and hosting. Fun fact, Candice and I share a birthday, as do our Moms, and our daughters' birthdays are just one day apart, so it only seemed right that we would throw this party together.
We decided that my front yard in middle Tennessee was the perfect spot. This was my daughter’s first birthday party where she was able to invite her friends from school. When you are in first grade, birthday parties are pretty important to these little girls. We wanted to make this party all about these little guests! We had fun activities scheduled and planned for them throughout the party make it a special memory.
When the girls arrived at the party, they were immediately directed into the make-up station, where HR Appearances and I let the girls pick out eye shadow colors and lipstick colors and play in all the make-up.
The second station that each girl visited was a fascinator station where they had so many options of colorful and fun ribbon and tulle. They were also able to pick their own golden horse to have a custom fascinator made.
We served derby snacks. Including these adorable cookies made by Sweet Brit's Cookies!
The girls laughed and danced to music. The surprise & biggest thrill of the party was one hour in, when a horse drawn carriage from K&S Horse Drawn Carriages came galloping up the driveway to the party! The girls were so surprised and those sweet little faces just lit up.
It was so precious to watch these girls, with their derby attire and makeup on and fascinators in place, climb on this gorgeous carriage and take rides. A huge thank you to Pomegranate Inc. for their gorgeous derby inspired linens and pillows, they were the perfect touch, and The Enchanted Home for the beautiful ginger jars (you know I wouldn't throw a party without them!)
I hope everyone enjoyed Horses, Hats, and Pearls #abstyle
